Eyelid Surgery
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Calabasas, Malibu, Agoura Hills and Camarillo
Our eyes convey the emotion and meaning behind the words we speak. Beautiful, expressive eyes are assets worth taking care of. Puffy pockets of fat and droopy or sagging eyelid skin have an aging effect that can make you look tired or angry, and affect the way you express yourself to others.
If you are wondering if eyelid surgery is right for you, request a consultation with Dr. Azar to discuss the possibilities. Or you can call our office at (805) 373-7073 and one of our knowledgeable, friendly staff members will schedule your appointment.

The Eyes You Want
When skillfully performed by Dr. Azar, eyelid surgery can have a subtle, yet significant effect on your eyes. This procedure can renew the eye area in a variety of ways, which include:
- Lifting drooping upper eyelids to restore the natural eyelid crease
- Reducing puffy lower eyelid bags
- Providing an alert, more refreshed look
- Improving peripheral vision (may be covered by insurance)
Eyelid surgery usually involves the removal or adjustment of eyelid skin, muscle, and fat. Incisions are concealed along the crease of the upper eyelids, and along the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelids. The incisions are closed, leaving only very thin scars that will fade over time.
When correcting the lower eyelids, Dr. Azar uses the transconjunctival technique where he removes the pockets of fat that cause puffy under-eye bags through an incision inside the lower eyelids.
When appropriate, he combines it with a pinch blepharoplasty which removes a “pinch” of skin from along the lower lash line. This technique reduces skin laxity under the eyes. He prefers the pinch technique over other types of lower blepharoplasty because it does not impact the eyelid muscles and keeps the eyes from looking rounded and wide-eyed.
Your Recovery & Beyond
While experiences vary, stitches are typically removed 7 days after surgery, at which point patients can return to non-strenuous activities, including work. It’s important to avoid strenuous activity for at least 3 weeks while you are healing.
A refreshed and youthful look often lasts for years to come, although patient experiences vary. If sagging eyelids were obstructing your vision, you will likely enjoy an expanded field of vision as well.
