Periareolar lifts are sometimes known as "doughnut" or "Benelli" lifts because they include making a full-circle incision around the areola's outer edge, which can also be used to reduce the size of the areola. This technique is for mildly droppy breasts only and can have significant limitations to improvement in shape for the wrong patient with too much droopiness.

A lollipop or vertical lift is an incision around the areola, and a vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the inframammary crease beneath the breast is created. When put together, it has a lollipop shape. A lollipop lift can be used to perform most breast lifts, and it has the added benefit of leaving behind a smaller scar that won't bottom out as quickly.

With and Without GalaFLEX Mesh

GalaFLEX mesh is a surgical scaffold inserted into the body to provide extra internal support.

Think of it as an internal bra. It offers support to tissues that require strengthening or repair, promoting tissue growth and regeneration from the inside. The mesh dissolves over a period of approximately 2 years and is replaced with stronger collagen containing tissue, providing longer term support without anything permanent. Patients without GalaFLEX mesh undergo a traditional breast lift that offers similar results but may not provide the same longer-lasting, more sculpted results. Your doctor will determine the best approach to meet your needs during your consultation.

While experiences vary, Thousand Oaks breast lift patients typically can return to work within about a week and resume strenuous activities after about a month. When you first return home from surgery, your breasts will be supported by a surgical bra with gauze bandages inside. Even though the necessity for drains is uncommon, you might also have a few tiny surgical drains to stop fluid buildup. For the first several weeks, your breasts may be swollen and bruised, with the swelling reaching its height around day three.

Will my breast lift hurt?

Patients will be under general anesthesia and won’t feel anything during the initial surgery but will experience soreness, bruising, and swelling afterward. Pain might be considered minimal compared to other procedures and can be controlled with prescribed pain medication. There is also an option for an injectable numbing medicine called Exparel, at an additional charge that numbs the tissues for up to 3 days, reducing the need for narcotic pain medicine.

Will my insurance cover a breast lift?
