There are many reasons why a woman may seek out a breast lift or breast augmentation.

Aging, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and significant weight loss can contribute to breast ptosis (drooping) and loss of breast volume. Many women who are looking to enhance their bust can benefit from combining breast lift and breast augmentation with implants in a single, comprehensive procedure. Women looking to undergo a breast lift with implants may be looking for a solution that addresses sagging and drooping breasts, as well as projection. If you are looking for a way to enhance your feminine silhouette, a breast lift with implants in Thousand Oaks at Azar Plastic Surgery will give you the results you desire. Contact our office today to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Azar to discuss your goals.

What is a breast lift with implants?

Enhance Your Silhouette

A breast lift with implants is essentially two procedures that can be performed in the same operation.1 The ultimate goal of augmentation-mastopexy is to lift the breast tissue and provide additional projection. This provides you with rounder, firmer, and perkier breasts, delivering your ideal breast shape and volume. This is usually accomplished by tightening the skin envelope of the breast and lifting the nipple into a higher position. The most common area that most women need the volume of an implant for is the upper pole or top of the breast, which can look empty even though a lift is performed. The implant fills this void producing a fuller, more rounded shape to the upper pole. This can be adjusted from quite natural to very full, depending on the patient's wishes.

With and Without GalaFLEX Mesh

As an option Thousand Oaks breast lift with implants provider, Dr. Azar may discuss with you, GalaFLEX is a surgical scaffold that can be implanted in the body to provide support to the tissues of the breast. GalaFLEX provides internal support to tissues in need of strengthening or repair, encouraging tissue growth and regeneration from within. The mesh will ultimately dissolve over approximately two years but is replaced with stronger collagen than otherwise. It is particularly helpful in holding the natural breast tissue and/or implants into a higher position and helping maintain it there longer. Patients who do not have GalaFLEX mesh have a traditional breast lift. A traditional breast lift produces similar results but may not be as long-lasting or sculpted as one that uses GalaFLEX. During your consultation, your doctor will determine the best approach to meet your needs.

Two Procedures in One

What are the benefits of a breast lift with implants?

There are many benefits to having a breast lift with implants. This combination procedure can give you impressive results with less recovery time when compared to having each surgery separately. The implants specifically will provide more fullness in the upper pole or top of the breast. This is in contrast to a more ski-slope-shaped breast that can occur in some patients if an implant is not used when doing a lift procedure. This added fullness will give the breast a more aesthetically pleasing shape. Also, you can expect to experience heightened self-confidence, feel more comfortable with your body, and enjoy a beautiful and feminine aesthetic after your surgery.

Lifting and Shaping to Address a Variety of Complaints

Am I a good candidate for a breast lift with implants?

Ideal candidates for augmentation-mastopexy are women who have experienced drooping and loss of volume in their breasts.2 They may also desire a larger bra size. Age, pregnancy, weight loss, and heredity are all reasons a woman may undergo breast lift with implants. Patients of this surgery are healthy individuals, with realistic goals for their surgery.

Sagging And Drooping Breasts (Ptosis)

The drooping of the breasts is called ptosis. When it comes to ptosis, it is measured in grades and has several levels. The amount of sagging you experience will play a significant role in the extent of your augmentation-mastopexy. Ptosis grade is determined by how low the nipple and glands fall below the inframammary crease.

Pseudoptosis

Pseudoptosis is a classification of the nipple in relation to the inframammary crease. The nipple is at the inframammary crease, but the breast gland has fallen below this line.

Mild

Sagging at this degree level is determined if the nipple is within 1 centimeter of the inframammary crease.

Moderate

This second-degree ptosis is measured by the nipple falling below the inframammary crease but is not at the lowest point of the breast.

Severe

This third level is determined when the nipple is the lowest point of the breast. Usually, this is when the nipple points downwards. If you are experiencing ptosis and deflation of your breasts and would like to learn more about how a breast lift with implants can give you the results you desire, contact Azar Plastic Surgery today to schedule your private consultation.

Your Breast Lift With Implants Procedure

What to Expect

On the day of your augmentation-mastopexy, you will meet with Dr. Azar to review the procedure plan with him. He will mark your body, locating the incision sites to inform his strategy during the operation. At the start of the surgery, you will be administered anesthesia to provide you with a comfortable experience during surgery. Dr. Azar will follow the markings made pre-op as he makes the necessary incisions. From here, Dr. Azar will remove the appropriate amount of skin from the breasts (de-epithelialize), create a pocket in front of or behind the pectoralis muscle to house the implants, and will carefully close the incisions as he tightens the skin. All of this is done in an effort to provide you with optimal results. When you wake up after surgery, you will be greeted by your new, firmer and lifted bust!

Incisions

For a breast lift with augmentation, your grade of ptosis plays a huge role in the type of incisions, or lift technique used.3 Regardless of incision sites, Dr. Azar will utilize his tremendous surgical skill by expertly placing and closing any incision to minimize scar visibility.

Periareolar (Doughnut Lift)

In this technique, two incisions are made around the edge of the areola, effectively forming a “doughnut.” The affected skin is de-epithelialized to allow for lifting the nipple to its new position. A deeper incision will be made, usually along the lower edge of the areola. Through this incision, Dr. Azar will create a pocket for the implant to sit, either in front of or behind the pectoralis muscle. The implant of choice will then be appropriately inserted into the new pocket.

Vertical (Lollipop Lift)

The vertical lift has proven beneficial for many women who have undergone breast lifts as this incision pattern allows for a higher lifting of the breast tissue. Like in the doughnut lift, a double incision will be made around the areola and a subsequent  incision running vertically from the bottom edge of the areola towards the inframammary crease will be made. The appropriate skin will be de-epithelialized and removed. A deeper incision will be made and a pocket for the breast implant will be created. After placement of the implant, the incisions are closed, with the resultant scars forming a “lollipop” shape.

Implants

Augmentation-mastopexy is a combination procedure that allows you to not only get rid of loose and sagging skin from the breasts, but also augment your breast size with the use of breast implants. There are a variety of combinations to choose from in regards to breast implants.4 Dr. Azar will work with you during your one-on-one consultation to find the best fit for you and your aesthetic goals.

Breast Lift With Implants Recovery

Stunningly Natural, Long-Lasting Results

During your personal consultation with Dr. Azar, you will be provided with post-operative instructions on how to care for yourself following surgery. You will need someone to drive you home following your augmentation-mastopexy as you will be sore and swollen.

Someone should stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery to monitor and help you as you adjust. You will experience discomfort in your chest during the first week after your breast lift with implants surgery. Many women are able to return to work after the first week post-op. It is advised that you avoid strenuous activity while you are healing from your operation. Dr. Azar will let you know when you may return to regular exercise and heavier lifting following your breast lift with implants procedure. After about a year following your procedure, swelling should completely subside and you should be able to notice your final results.

Breast Lift With Implants Results

Saline Breast Implants

Saline breast implants are round in shape and have a silicone outer shell that is filled with a saline (saltwater) solution. Saline implants are FDA-approved for breast augmentation.

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone implants are a very popular choice in breast augmentation surgeries. These implants have a silicone outer shell and are filled with a silicone gel. Silicone implants can come with a couple of options to choose from, including shape (round or “teardrop”/anatomical) and shell (textured or smooth). Silicone implants are FDA-approved for breast augmentation.

Gummy Bear Breast Implants

Gummy bear implants are effectively silicone implants that are filled with a cohesive gel that sticks together even if the outer coating breaks. Thus, there are little or no concerns about leaking of the gel over time. However, the gummy bear implant has a cohesive gel inside the shell that will keep its shape even if you experience a rupture. Some women choose this type of implant because of its more natural feel. These implants are FDA-approved for breast augmentation. They do not have to be replaced on any kind of regular schedule.

Breast Lift With Implants Frequently Asked Questions

An augmentation-mastopexy is a very customized procedure. Because of this, cost is something that will be discussed during your private consultation with Dr. Azar. There are many variables to consider that will affect the final cost of your breast lift with implants. Therefore, it is almost impossible to provide even a ballpark estimate without meeting you in person. Your anatomy, desires, and concerns are unique to you; this is why Dr. Azar will tailor the procedure to meet your individual needs. Dr. Azar wants to make your breast lift with implants procedure as attainable as possible. He feels that cost should not keep you from having the results you desire. This is why Azar Plastic Surgery offers special financing options for your surgery.

As with all surgical procedures, a breast lift with implants carries some risk. Dr. Azar is a board-certified plastic surgeon, which means he has extensive training in the field of plastic surgery and is well-versed in creating and maintaining safety and aesthetic qualities for each of his patients. Dr. Azar uses FDA-approved implants for this procedure and possesses a very high-level attention to detail. Dr. Azar will go over the risks, benefits, and details of the augmentation-mastopexy with you during your one-on-one consultation.

There are a number of factors that can influence which breast implants would be best for you. Your unique anatomy and your goals will be taken into account during your private consultation with Dr. Azar. He will offer his professional medical opinion to help you make an informed decision on what is best for you. Although each person’s body is very different, in general, implants in the 200-300cc range are placed for someone who really does not want larger breasts but wants to take advantage of the shape benefits of breast implants. Over 300 cc is typically for patients who acknowledge that they want larger breasts. You will try on implant sizers during the consultation, and 3D computer imaging will be performed if appropriate for your body to do a simulation and education on the procedure details. It is common for patients to have concerns about “being too big,” but once the implants are inside the body, they appear natural, and it is very rare for anyone to regret going too big. Although it is not an exact science, we have the knowledge and experience to guide you through the process of picking an appropriate-sized implant.

There is no match for the results a breast lift with implants can provide.

You should arrange for a family member or friend to drop you off and pick you up for your breast lift with implant procedure due to anesthesia. You will need some help over the next 2-3 days, including a ride to the first post-operative appointment.
