The Body Contours You Want
Liposuction is a minimally-invasive cosmetic surgery that effectively spot-reduces fat from nearly any area of the body to deliver the body contours you’ve always wanted. Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures and is performed with an incredibly high rate of satisfaction–when performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon.
Dr. Azar performs only using the most advanced liposuction both as an individual procedure and in combination with other procedures, such as a facelift or a tummy tuck, to refine the results. While it is used to reduce areas of unwanted body fat, liposuction is not to be used as a weight loss method.
Liposuction is effective for removing fat from most areas of the body, such as:
- Abdomen, including the flanks
- Thighs, including “saddle bags,” the “banana roll” area just under the buttocks, and the lower medial thigh (above the knee)
- Breasts and the area between the armpit and the breast
- Under the chin
- Upper lateral back (between the armpit and waist)
Using his highly refined skill and experience, Dr. Azar provides smooth, attractive results with a technique called tumescent liposuction. While laser liposuction like SmartLipo and ultrasound liposuction enhancements might sound exciting, Dr. Azar recommends the time-tested, proven techniques of liposuction to provide beautiful results for patients who are at a healthy weight and have good skin elasticity.
Dr. Azar performs liposuction on an outpatient basis using general or local anesthesia depending on the patient and how large of an area is involved. The procedure can last 2 or more hours. Liposuction begins with a small incision in the treatment area. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the incision, and fat cells are vacuumed out and discarded. While experiences vary after liposuction, treated areas typically heal within 1 to 2 weeks revealing a smoother, tighter shape.
Like traditional liposuction, tumescent liposuction is a surgical procedure used to reduce unwanted fat on your body’s problem areas. However, tumescent liposuction – considered the safest type available – allows for removal of fat with very little blood loss.
Dr. Azar performs tumescent liposuction regardless of whether the patient is awake or asleep because this involves injecting local anesthesia with adrenaline, which minimizes bleeding during the procedure. While experiences vary, most patients return to work the next day and can resume exercise within 1 week. After your liposuction procedure, you should notice a more streamlined and sleeker physique.
If you’re considering neck liposuction to reduce the appearance of a double chin and your skin retains most of its elasticity, you may be a good candidate for KYBELLA® injections. KYBELLA is a non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA to reduce fat below the chin.
After the procedure, the treated area will be swollen. Any discomfort can be improved with pain medication. Swelling can be improved by elevating the area and going on brief walks to improve circulation. A compression garment will also help to control swelling. This garment will need to be worn for a few weeks to help your body adjust to the new contours.
Strenuous activities and exercise will need to be avoided for a few weeks until the initial healing period is complete.
Follow-up appointments will allow Dr. Azar to monitor your recovery and ensure you are receiving the results you desire. These appointments are a great time to ask questions about your recovery and when you can expect your final results.
You will immediately notice a slimmer appearance! As the swelling decreases and your body adjusts to the new contours, you will see your final results setting in during the following weeks. It will take a couple of months for your treatment area to be fully healed.
The results accomplished with liposuction are long-lasting. We recommend you maintain a stable weight, stay active, and eat healthy to ensure your results last for years!
The area(s) treated and unique details of each customized liposuction procedure cause lipo costs to differ between patients. If you are wondering if liposuction is right for you, request a consultation with Dr. Azar to discuss your body contouring possibilities.

What is involved in liposuction consultation?
- A liposuction consultation will entail:
- An examination of the concerning area
- An evaluation of your health
- Information on the procedure
- The development of a treatment plan
- Instruction on how to prepare for the surgery and recovery
- A date for the surgery
These are a few of the primary topics discussed in a consultation.
How much can you lose with liposuction?
You can lose large amounts of fat with liposuction but this procedure is not meant to replace weight loss procedures. Liposuction removes subcutaneous fat stores (fat stored under the skin) and helps to resculpt remaining fat for optimal results. The amount of fat you can have removed that is safe for you will depend on your desired outcome and your current health.
When should I get liposuction?
You should get liposuction when exercise is not providing the results you want.
What areas can you get liposuction?
You can get liposuction all over the body, including the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, breasts, under the chin, and back.
