The Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction begins with a small incision in the treatment area. Next, a thin, hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the incision, and fat cells are vacuumed out and discarded. Liposuction is performed at our Thousand Oaks office on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and can last two or more hours. Once the area has healed, typically within one to two weeks, you should notice a smoother, tighter shape.

Tumescent Liposuction

Like traditional liposuction, tumescent liposuction is a surgical procedure to eliminate unwanted fat from your body's problem areas. However, tumescent liposuction - considered the safest type available - allows for large removal of fat with very little blood loss.

Tumescent liposuction is conducted under local rather than general anesthesia, so it can be performed quickly and has a much shorter recovery period. Most patients return to work the next day and can resume exercise within one week. After the liposuction procedure, you should notice a more streamlined and sleeker physique.
