Injectable Fillers

JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel

JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel is a soft-tissue filler made of hyaluronic acid, a bio-compatible substance that is safe, natural and highly effective. Hyaluronic acid works with the moisture in your body to plump the skin and create a more youthful and vibrant appearance. Because it contains no animal proteins, there is no need for allergy testing. Like most injectables, JuvédermTM Injectable Gel treatments are done on an outpatient basis, require no downtime and produce rapid results.

On June 26, 2007, Allergan, Inc. announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had approved a label extension of JUVÉDERM® to provide smooth, natural-looking results lasting up to one year with a single treatment. The FDA approval was based on new clinical data showing that the effects of JUVÉDERM® may last for up to 12 months, which is longer than reported in clinical studies supporting FDA approval of other hyaluronic acid facial fillers.

JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel has no risk of allergic reactions, and is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler proven safe and effective for people of color. Restylane®

Restylane® is a revolutionary soft-tissue filler that gently smoothes fine lines, creases and folds around the forehead and lips. >What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, a bio-compatible substance found naturally in the body. This natural formula works by using the body's own moisture to add and maintain fullness and lubrication to the superficial layers of the skin. Unlike some other injectables, Restylane® contains no animal proteins, so there is little to no risk of allergic reactions.

Restylane® treatments use a micro-needle to inject the substance directly into your skin. For lip augmentation, injection treatments take about 30 minutes. For other areas of the face, treatment times can range from 10 minutes to an hour.

There is no downtime with Restylane®, so you can enjoy results immediately and see greater results with time as the Restylane® formula continues to work with your body's moisture. Results can last about six months.

Research reported in the Feb. 20, 2007 Archives of Dermatology, published by the American Medical Association, suggests that the effects of Restylane seem to last longer with subsequent treatments, as the hyaluronic acid appears to stimulate the skin to produce its own collagen.

Fat Injections

Fat injections, also known as fat transfer, can fill in wrinkles, lines and scars, or create contours in the face. Because the fat is taken from one area of the patient's body via liposuction and injected into other areas, there is no chance of developing an allergic reaction or concerns of incompatibility. Donor sites may include the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and other areas where fat cells are readily available.

Fat injections are done with a local anesthetic at Dr. Azar's Thousand Oaks office. Results typically last for several months but can last up to several years. Fat injections, whether used to augment lips, fill in lines around the mouth or create contours on the cheeks, provide smooth, natural-looking results.

Radiesse®
