Gluteal Augmentation

Exercise and weight training do little to change the shape or size of the buttocks. Gluteal augmentation, or buttock implants, can lift, enlarge and reshape the buttocks. Unlike breast implants, buttock implants are made of solid silicone -- they will never rupture or break. During gluteal augmentation, one discreet incision is made over the tailbone between the buttocks, an implant is carefully placed beneath the gluteus maximus muscle in each buttock, and then the small incision is sutured closed.

Gluteal augmentation results in more-rounded, shapely and curvaceous buttocks. Most normal activities can be resumed about four weeks after surgery. For best results, gluteal augmentation can be performed at the same time as other cosmetic body contouring procedures, including buttock lift and liposuction.
