Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Our eyes convey the emotion and meaning behind the words we speak. Beautiful, expressive eyes are assets worth keeping in top form. Puffy pockets of fat and droopy or sagging eyelid skin have an aging effect that can make you look tired or angry.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, performed in our Thousand Oaks office, can have a dramatic effect on your eyes, making you look well-rested and refreshed. For some people, eyelid surgery can restore vision impaired by sagging eyelids.

In some cases, insurance may cover eyelid surgery if sagging eyelids are interfering with your vision.

The Blepharoplasty Procedure

During blepharoplasty surgery, a small incision is first made horizontally along each eyelid, and excess fat, skin, and muscle are removed from the upper and lower eyelids. The incisions are closed, leaving only a very thin scar that will fade over time.

Blepharoplasty is performed at our Thousand Oaks office under a combination of local anesthesia and sedation and typically requires one to three hours. Your refreshed and youthful look will last for years to come.

We also offer a variety of skin care treatments that will complement the results of eyelid surgery. Contact our office in Thousand Oaks to find out if BOTOX® Cosmetic, JUVÉDERM®, or chemical peel treatment are right for you.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

With time, gravity and loss of skin elasticity cause the eyebrows to droop below the bony ridge of the brow, producing a tired, angry or anxious appearance. An endoscopic brow lift, also called a forehead lift, can treat this condition as well as horizontal lines on the forehead and creases above the nose.

During the brow lift procedure, performed at our Thousand Oaks office, an endoscope is inserted below the skin through discreet incisions hidden in the hairline, and the skin and underlying muscles are lifted and tightened to their original youthful position.

The Brow Lift Procedure

Dr. Azar uses a new technique during the brow lift procedure with the help of the Endotine™ device developed by Coapt Systems (www.coaptsystems.com). The Endotine™ device is an absorbable plate that holds the brow in position and dissolves within six months, significantly reducing the need for sutures. This new device improves the accuracy and simplicity of the brow lift procedure. Brow lift surgery, available at our Thousand Oaks office, can make your face look years younger and more refreshed. When combined with the face lift procedure, the brow lift gives our patients in Simi Valley, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, and surrounding areas maximum results.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Over time, facial skin can become damaged due to chronic sun exposure, hereditary factors and the effects of aging. Laser skin resurfacing performed at our Thousand Oaks office can give you smooth, healthy-looking skin again.

Laser skin resurfacing harnesses the safe but highly effective power of the laser to penetrate the skin, removing damaged outer layers. Precisely controlled pulses of light energy target problem areas to effectively treat wrinkles, age spots, pigmentation irregularities, acne scars and other imperfections.

Laser skin resurfacing not only removes damaged layers of skin, but works to tighten collagen fibers in the skin and restore elasticity, leaving you with more youthful-looking skin.

The Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

Prior to any laser skin resurfacing procedure, your skin will be prepared for healing with skin care products prescribed by Dr. Azar. If select problem areas are to be treated, local anesthesia may be administered. For complete facial resurfacing, Dr. Azar may administer general anesthesia.

Your face will be cleaned of any oils and treated with a topical antibiotic. The laser will be programmed to penetrate the appropriate layers of skin, depending on your needs. Once Dr. Azar has successfully removed the outer layers of your skin, he will apply a healing ointment to the treated areas.

Laser skin resurfacing has a lower risk of bleeding or other complications than other skin treatments such as dermabrasion and chemical peels. Contact our Thousand Oaks cosmetic surgery office today to learn more about restoring a youthful, healthy-looking appearance to your face.

Neck Lift

If the skin under your chin or on your neck has started to sag or excess fat has developed, you might be an excellent candidate for a neck lift. During the neck lift procedure, loose skin is carefully trimmed away and excess fat is removed. The remaining skin is tightened and gently held in place with a neck sling, an elastic dressing that allows the treated area to heal properly. A neck lift can make you look years younger, especially when combined with face lift surgery.

Cheek Implants

Cheek implants can define and improve the contour of the middle portion of the face. These implants are placed through inconspicuous incisions inside the upper or lower eyelids. When cheek implants are combined with other procedures such as a brow lift, face lift, or mid-face lift, the procedure does not require additional incisions. The cheek implant procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes, and the sutures dissolve in about 10 days.

Ear Sculpting (Otoplasty)

Ears that are especially large or protruding can have a negative impact on a person’s self-esteem. Ear surgery, or otoplasty, can change the size and shape of ears for people of all ages, making overly large ears smaller or placing protruding ears closer to the head. Otoplasty is most commonly performed on children between the ages of four and 14.

Otoplasty begins with an incision behind the ear. Excess cartilage is then removed, and the remaining cartilage is sutured into place and left to heal. Ear surgery takes about two to three hours, and is done on an outpatient basis. Most normal activities can be resumed in five to seven days, and strenuous activities in about one to two months. Ear sculpting is highly effective at improving an individual’s appearance and self-confidence.

Facial and Hand Trauma Repair

Traumatic injuries to the face or hands can cause serious emotional strain, making you feel self-conscious. This type of injury may even interfere with everyday activities that most of us take for granted. Dr. Azar considers facial and hand trauma repair his first priority to help patients heal physically and emotionally.

Scar Revision

Many factors determine the severity of scarring: the size of a wound, its depth, the blood supply to the area, and skin tone. No surgeon can completely remove a scar, but the appearance of most scars can be greatly improved.

Scar revision is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of scars that do not respond to cortisone drugs, steroids or skin gels. Several techniques are available, including excision, dermabrasion, and laser treatment. Contact our cosmetic surgery office near Westlake Village to learn more.

Facial Implants

Chin, cheek and jowl implants can help bring definition to the middle and lower portions of the face. Chin and jowl implants can strengthen your jaw and bring balance and harmony to the face, while cheek implants can bring definition and improved facial contour. Facial implants are placed through inconspicuous incisions to hide any scarring. Chin implants, in particular, are an excellent complement to nose reshaping or rhinoplasty surgery. Contact our office in Thousand Oaks to find out if facial implants are right for you.
