The Breast Reduction Procedure
The breast reduction procedure performed at our Thousand Oaks practice reduces the size of large breasts, making them smaller, lighter and more proportionate to the rest of the body. The procedure entails an incision made around the areola (the dark circle of skin surrounding the nipple) and below the natural curve of the breast.
Excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed, and the remaining skin is tightened around the newly contoured breast. The breast reduction procedure generally lasts three hours and is performed under anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
