Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, eliminates excess fat and skin around the midsection, giving you a flatter stomach, trimmer waistline and sleeker, more-defined abs.
Tummy tuck procedures at our Thousand Oaks office begin with an incision from one hip to the other to create a flap of skin. This skin is then separated from the abdominal muscles. Next, Dr. Azar tightens the vertical rectus
abdominis muscle of the abdomen to flatten the stomach and recontour the waistline. The skin flap is then folded down and excess skin is removed. Finally, the flap is replaced and the incision closed.
Abdominoplasty procedures typically take two to three hours, depending on how much excess skin needs to be removed to achieve the desired shape. Most of our patients who undergo abdominoplasty surgery visit our Thousand Oaks office for a follow-up visit and return to their normal daily activities within two to three weeks.
During your surgical consultation, Dr. Azar will go over pre- and post-op instructions and give you a better idea of how your recovery will proceed. As a tummy tuck is a major procedure, it is important for you to follow post-op instructions and rest after the procedure.
Please contact our cosmetic surgery office if you are interested in having abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery in Thousand Oaks or have any questions about the procedure.

Although a healthy diet and exercise routine are the best ways to lose weight, many people still just can't seem to eliminate unwanted fat from problem areas—particularly the stomach, thighs, ankles, hips, buttocks, neck and chin. Liposuction, a form of body-contouring surgery that suctions away unwanted fat, sculpts and tones these problem areas.
Liposuction is the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedure in the U.S. In 2007 alone, 456,828 liposuction procedures were performed on American women and men—a 158% increase since 1997, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Liposuction begins with a small incision in the treatment area. Next, a thin, hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the incision, and fat cells are vacuumed out and discarded. Liposuction is performed at our Thousand Oaks office on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and can last two or more hours. Once the area has healed, typically within one to two weeks, you should notice a smoother, tighter shape.
Like traditional liposuction, tumescent liposuction is a surgical procedure to eliminate unwanted fat from your body’s problem areas. However, tumescent liposuction – considered the safest type available – allows for large removal of fat with very little blood loss.
Tumescent liposuction is conducted under local rather than general anesthesia, so it can be performed quickly and has a much shorter recovery period. Most patients return to work the next day and can resume exercise within one week. After the liposuction procedure, you should notice a more streamlined and sleeker physique.
Tumescent liposucation is extremely safe; there have been no serious complications associated with it. Contact our Thousand Oaks office to schedule a consultation.

Exercise and weight training do little to change the shape or size of the buttocks. Gluteal augmentation, or buttock implants, can lift, enlarge and reshape the buttocks. Unlike breast implants, buttock implants are made of solid silicone -- they will never rupture or break. During gluteal augmentation, one discreet incision is made over the tailbone between the buttocks, an implant is carefully placed beneath the gluteus maximus muscle in each buttock, and then the small incision is sutured closed.
Gluteal augmentation results in more-rounded, shapely and curvaceous buttocks. Most normal activities can be resumed about four weeks after surgery. For best results, gluteal augmentation can be performed at the same time as other cosmetic body contouring procedures, including buttock lift and liposuction. Contact our office in Thousand Oaks to find out if you are a candidate for gluteal augmentation.

Superficial leg veins, also known as spider veins or superficial varicose veins, are groups of red and purple veins that appear on the thighs, calves or ankles. Leg veins are a common condition among men and women and may be hereditary. There is no known cause for these veins, although they seem to occur after pregnancy or to people in occupations that involve prolonged standing.
Sclerotherapy, a treatment form that is more economical than lasers, and effective for varicose veins of all sizes, involves injecting a solution that causes irritation to the veins, ultimately causing them to close off after about four to six weeks. Some areas will require more than one injection. Our goal is to significantly reduce the number of these veins by 70 to 80 percent.

Losing a substantial amount of weight can improve your overall health and boost your self-esteem. But many men and women have found—especially after bariatric surgery—that they can lose weight, but they can’t lose skin. If you have lost 50 pounds, 100 pounds or more and are left with loose, stretched-out skin, you may be a candidate for a lower body lift.
A lower body lift, also called a belt lipectomy, removes the loose, excess skin and tissue left after extreme weight loss. Like a face lift, reshapes the face, a lower body lift can tighten and tone the hips, thighs, buttocks, stomach and waistline, leaving them firm and smooth.
Excess skin and tissue are trimmed away, remaining skin and tissue are tightened, and the incision sutured. The dramatic and often life-changing results of a lower body lift include a flatter stomach, narrower waistline, and more-taut and sculpted hips, thighs and buttocks.
While the techniques used in body lift and abdominoplasty procedures are similar, a lower body lift is a more complex surgery than a tummy tuck because it works around the circumference of the body. Contact our office in Thousand Oaks to find out if lower body lift surgery is right for you.

If regular exercise and healthy eating don't seem to have the desired effect on your thighs, a thigh lift may be a good option for you. The thigh lift procedure tones the thighs by using liposuction to remove excess skin and tissue, and employs a tightening procedure to add firmness to the newly sculpted area. The result is slimmer, more- toned and shapely thighs.
