IPL Photofacial
Living in Southern California, we are often exposed to the harsh UV rays of the sun that can cause pigmentation irregularities on the face, arms, shoulders, chest and hands. These blotchy spots, called solar lentigenes, can detract from the beauty of your skin, making you look older.
To make your skin smoother, monochromatic and more youthful-looking, we recommend the highly safe and effective intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial in our Thousand Oaks practice. This system targets pigment in the superficial layers of your skin using intense, well-controlled pulses of light energy.
Dr. Kouros Azar
A board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Azar develops innovative surgical techniques to provide exceptional outcomes.
The IPL wavelength absorbs melanin, the skin's pigment, while causing little agitation to the hemoglobin in your skin. Compared to a standard pulsed-light system, the IPL photofacial requires less power to obtain desirable results and is thus safer.
IPL photofacial treatments take just a few minutes and are virtually pain free. Occasionally, patients may notice a mild burning sensation for a few brief moments. Any slight discoloration immediately following treatment will fade within 1 to 2 weeks. For best results, Dr. Azar recommends 2 to 4 IPL photofacial treatments.
For a non-surgical facelift, Dr. Azar recommends the 3D skin rejuvenation approach, which combines IPL treatments with Laser Genesis and Titan® laser treatments.
