For a subtle enhancement of the bust line, a breast lift at our Thousand Oaks practice may be the perfect solution. Breast lift can correct the natural effects of aging such as drooping and sagging, or the excess skin that usually accompanies a significant reduction in weight. The breast lift procedure consists of eliminating surplus skin and tissue, lifting and tightening the bust line, and repositioning the nipples. Breast lift restores your youthful curves in little more than an hour and is often performed in combination with breast implants at our Thousand Oaks office for a more dramatic change. Unlike traditional breast lift techniques, Dr. Azar uses a technique that minimizes the length of scars.
Women with overly large or heavy breasts often experience physical discomforts including neck and back pain and bra strap indentations on their shoulders. Oversized breasts can make a woman feel self-conscious and embarrassed, as well as physically uncomfortable. The breast reduction procedure performed at our Thousand Oaks practice reduces the size of large breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and more proportionate.
The breast reduction procedure begins with an incision made around the areola (the dark circle of skin surrounding the nipple) and below the natural curve of the breast. Next, excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed, and the remaining skin is tightened around the newly contoured breast. The breast reduction procedure performed in our Thousand Oaks office generally lasts three hours and is performed under anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
You may choose to have breast implants removed at our Thousand Oaks office for a variety of reasons – implants that are too small or too large, or the rupture of an implant are just a few of the possibilities. Once you have made the decision to have one or both breast implants removed, Dr. Azar can help you achieve your goal. Breast implant removal can also be combined with other procedures including scar tissue removal, breast lift, removal of escaped implant liquids, or breast biopsy.

Full, shapely breasts can make a woman feel more feminine, beautiful, and secure. Breast augmentation has helped many in the Thousand Oaks area find a renewed sense of confidence in their self-image and the way they view their bodies. With new techniques and types of breast implants available, skilled and experienced physicians such as Dr. Azar can perform safe and successful breast augmentation surgeries.
Breast augmentation, as performed at our Thousand Oaks practice, increases and enhances the size and shape of a woman’s breast. During this outpatient procedure, incisions are made underneath the breasts, just above the natural crease, and saline filled breast implants are carefully inserted either under or above the pectoral muscles. Positioning the breast implants under the chest muscles allows the muscles to act as a built in bra. Once the breast implants are in place, the incisions are closed. Performed under general anesthesia, the breast augmentation procedure takes about one hour to complete. The healing period following breast augmentation for most of our Thousand Oaks patients is typically three weeks. The end result is a more curvaceous, bust line and a natural, sculpted look.
Breast reconstruction is commonly performed for women who have had a mastectomy (removal of the breast due to cancer or pre-cancerous condition) or who have breast deformities. Many women feel self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts following mastectomy. Breast reconstruction allows their natural curves to be restored and can drastically improve quality of life.
Breast reconstruction techniques are usually accomplished in stages and can span across six months. The first procedure, which is usually undergone at the time of the mastectomy, is the longest and most complex. Subsequent surgeries are usually outpatient and involve minimal pain and recovery.
There are two categories of reconstruction: 1) implant-based reconstruction, and 2) techniques that use only the patient’s own tissue. There are many factors and variables to consider before undergoing breast reconstruction, and a treatment plan can be formulated with the help of Dr. Azar to meet your goals and needs. To discuss all of your concerns, goals, and treatment options, please contact Dr. Azar today to schedule an in-depth consultation.
Many men feel self-conscious about extra fat and tissue located in their chest area. Fortunately, this condition (known as ‘gynecomastia’) can be treated with a procedure often referred to as "male breast reduction." Two variations of this procedure may be used, depending on your needs. If fat, skin, and glandular tissue need to be removed, the procedure will be done using a scalpel or scalpel-liposuction approach. For this procedure, the incision may be placed discreetly in the underarm area or around the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple). If only fatty tissue needs to be removed, the procedure can be done with liposuction alone, which entails a much smaller incision.
